  • Heath Testing & Pedigree Info

JNJ Pugs-N-Paps can get you copies of all the tests our boys have. We do charge a small fee for the time and copies, and this is for breeders looking to obtain breeding stock. If your vet is wanting a copy for your pet puppy, feel free to have them contact us for a direct fax. Let us know if there is a specific pairing you are looking for and we can tell you if it’s in the future. Call or text Jenina & Josh at (785) 280-9677, (785) 280-0672, or (785) 280-9894 for questions.

HEALTH CERTIFICATIONS DNA LINKS HAVE BEEN ADDED ON HERE FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE

Health certifications, OFA, Cert #s, DNA, and many more health tests are given yearly. Many just once in the lifetime (like DNA). We try to keep as much as we can on here. Private info on some won’t be displayed as some scammers try to steal info and use for themselves. I will post as much as I can. If ever any questions, feel free to ask anytime. OFAs can’t be completed until 1-years-old. We do, however, do prelims as well. We have many more but, sometimes it’s just too much to post. You can always ask us. Breeders, once approved for a full rights pup, you will get copies of testing if you choose with your pup. Pedigrees will be given to those who purchase full rights puppy. We do not give out pedigrees or post on our website as we have found way too many using them with malicious intent, EX: printing and breeding a "pet-only pup," then giving new parents copies of pedigrees to a dog that should not have been bred or to ones that are not even real offspring calling it proof of AKC lineage.

We have been told that the copies are kind of hard to read, so we are going to try something new. We are going to try to list the dog by call name and provide a link you can click to see the whole dog’s profile. We use for testing UC Davis of California, Kansas State University, Vet Gen, Embark, Paw Track, AKC, OFA Approved Veterinarians, and a few more. There are many tests that we do that if you are unfamiliar with, ask us (remember some tests you don’t want all clear). There are many geneticists that recommend certain things should have one carrier in a line as to not shallow the gene pool. When in question, ask us. We have many vets we can get info for you and many reference materials as well.

We do have posted here links to each dogs’ genetic health testing. Again, OFA and certification certificates and numbers will be shown to any pup purchaser but will not be posted online to be copied by just anyone. Thanks for understanding that we have to do this because of the few unscrupulous people.

Additional Information

DNA testing be sure to understand the results and testing, as pugs ALT is always a factor and will show up as a variant. UC Davis also has info and studies to show that a fully clear no carriers in some variants is more of a problem such as PDE or DM (yes, we have this on their testing form if anyone ever wants to see it). We are always striving to make sure we breed each couple with the best puppies possible, so when you see a male or female with a carrier variant it’s on purpose. EX: (Wasabi is from Bagel and Bacon. bacon is a PDE carrier and Bagel has none. Therefore, the resulting pup Wasabi is fully clear as you can pull up. Yet, we would want to breed him with girls that have a variant or alt variant to make sure the genes do not become shallow).

Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) is a clinical tool that can be used by veterinarians to better monitor liver health. This result is not associated with liver disease. ALT is one of several values veterinarians measure on routine blood work to evaluate the liver. It is a naturally occurring enzyme located in liver cells that helps break down protein. When the liver is damaged or inflamed, ALT is released into the bloodstream.
